Where are the African Americans that you speak about in emergent?

I read your annotation to the recent CT article about the emerging church, and I really appreciated your comments concerning...

...minorities in the emerging conversation:

"These young African American Christians, if welcomed into the emerging church conversation, will not only benefit from the association with other Christians of their generation and mindset, but will also bring
great resources to the conversation."

Being one of these African Americans, I must say that you really whet my appetite, and have left me wondering who some of these leaders are that you've spoken to, and where you (all) see blacks joining the conversation? I've been following the "conversation" for the last couple of years, but have yet to meet another African American doing the same. I'm really encouraged by hearing of your hope on this.

Answer: It probably wouldn’t be appropriate for me to list names here – but here’s an idea. Why don’t you work with the emergentvillage.com website to create an online cohort for African Americans in the conversation? And other African Americans who read this website – will you participate as well? You could help the conversation become – in the best sense of the word – more colorful!
